WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION?
I am inspired from my Native American and Danish background. I do have a love for the 60's,70's era, and you'll also find hints of Bohemian style thoughout my collections, whether it be apparel, jewelry or accessories.
FAVORITE ITEM OF THE COLLECTION?
I am currently working on three collections as we speak. As a returning winning designer of FWSD, I am doing a remix of the SS'16 collection I won with. This was one of my favorites, inspired from the Native American Medicine Wheel it has bold colors of Black, Red, Yellow and White. My SS'18 Collection will debut in November at San Diego Fashion Fest, this will be the first collection inspired from my Danish heritage. The color palette for our SS'18 collection will be Cobalt Blue, Rose Pink, Blush, Butter Orange/Yellow, Sage Green and a Fiery Spice Orange. My Fall '18 collection is tentatively scheduled to debut at LA STYLE Fashion Week. Our Fall'18 will be the first series of five Fall collections Titled Indian Outlaw Collection, inspired from the wild west with a Native dominance. The special thing about this collection is that all five seasons will be cohesive! you'll be able to purchase must have pieces to add to your capsule wardrobe, as well as I will DIE IF I DON'T BUY THAT IN EVERY COLOR pieces! Really looking forward to this series. I think it may be a first... not sure if another designer has had this concept?
I also have to add the most favorite part of my upcoming collection at FWSD is truly my models. Casting all Native American models, two that have appeared on ANTM. It is an honor to be a first to do this, and to have them grace the runway for our brand.
MUST-HAVE ITEM IN YOUR CLOSET?
My one must have item is a bad ass accessory. I love couture, but I've always been an accessories girl at heart! Statement pieces, add layers, etc. Just remember to have fun and add YOU into your look.
HARDEST PART ABOUT BEING A DESIGNER?
The hardest part of being a designer/business owner can and could be many things. I think we all struggle with different things, from financing to meeting deadlines. As the only soul at B.JASH.I right now everything is on my plate so that can definitely be overwhelming at times. I try to maintain a positive attitude and focus on the law of attraction, learn from mistakes and move on. Keep the motivation rolling, and don't worry about what people say, you are never going to please everyone. Love your brand, and make it happen!
